Collection: Human Exhibition
Human Group Exhibition by the Christos Collective
Bitfactory Gallery, March 15–April 13, 2024
Bitfactory Gallery presents Human, a group exhibition featuring artists from the Christos Collective running March 15 through April 13, 2024. This through-provoking visual exploration asks, “What sets us apart in the animal kingdom?”. The public is invited to an Opening Reception on March 15, 6-9 pm at 851 Santa Fe Drive, and to visit during regular business hours Tuesday through Sunday 11:30 to 3:00 pm and during the First Friday Art Walk on April 5, 6-9 pm.
Christos Collective member artists were presented with the idea to explore our humanness given the fact that we share about 90% of our DNA with mice, dogs, cattle, and elephants and that 99% of our body is made of oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon, calcium, and a small amount of phosphorus. Human beings are neither the fastest nor the strongest animals on the planet—and not even the only ones with opposable thumbs!
The wide variety of creative takes on this topic are expressed through diverse genres like figurative, abstract, textile, assemblage, found objects, symbolism, and representational art. The show includes work by Emma Behl, Jennifer Bunge, Sandra Jean Ceas, Chrys Goodman, Jeff Gagliardi, Galina Hitching, Tierra Lalk, Garrett Larson, Levi Nelson, Louis Cutler, Tara McConnell, Melissa Pape, Kathleen Self, Karin Soderholm, John Wretlind, and Shan Yang.
