Collection: Salt Exhibition

Bitfactory Gallery welcomes the artists of Christos Collective and their new exhibition Salt on view March 17 through April 13, 2023 at 851 Santa Fe Drive. The group has chosen this essential element to bind their hearts and minds and artwork together for this exhibition, much as salt binds all humanity and all living creatures together. The thirteen participants—also bound by their faith—are part of a community of artists who employ contemporary visual art to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of a Christian worldview. The public is invited to a reception on Third Friday Collector’s Night March 17th, 6 to 9 pm, the First Friday Art Walk on April 4th, 6 to 9 pm, and to view the show during regular gallery hours 11:30 am to 3 pm, Tuesdays-Sundays.

The exhibit includes a selection of acrylic paintings, oil paintings and mixed media work by Jude Barton, Jennifer Bunge, Mary Carpenter, Sandra Ceas, Sidney Gage, Tierra Lalk, Garrett Larson, Levi Nelson, Tara McConnell, Melissa Pape, Kathy Self, Karin Soderholm and Shan Yang

The show is based on the profound impact of the element sodium chloride, —salt—throughout civilization. Not only is it required to sustain all human and animal life, but it has also been mentioned frequently in scripture, used in religious practices, and has played an important role across communities as a commodity. Without salt, our language, our metaphors, our culture, and our very lives, will not only be flavorless and dull, indeed we will cease to exist.

Christos Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, whose purpose is to cultivate artists of faith to reach excellence in their work through critique, exhibition and outreach. Their artwork and outreach events inspire powerful conversations as a catalyst for positive change both in the art community and society as a whole.
